HP TouchSmart Giveaway!!!

I am no computer scientist.

But I know an awesome computer when I see one, and now I have one.

It is so dang cool.

I love how user friendly it is.

I love that I can touch the screen open up tabs, browsers and windows.

With just one touch of my finger.

My kids are digging it too.

They love how easy it is to do Barbie's make-up with their fingers on the screen.

Mr. Nielson loves it because it makes him feel like a futuristic spaceship commander as he flicks the screen with his finger tips moving multiple applications around juggling the experience.

Mr. Nielson also likes the machines crisp interface with SKYPE using the webcam and microphone etc.

I also love that I can change the color of the ambiance light to any color imaginable.

Right now it is a lovely shade of yellowish-green.

I love that it has a built-in HD TV tuner.

I also love that I don't have to reach over to push the mouse around

(even though it comes with one for those of you that do-)

So cool.

And you can have one.

Please leave me a comment why you need one to love and hold as your very own.

You have until the 24th to win.

Here are the rules .

And if you want 5 more chances to win one of these lil beauties, go here.

  1. Well, I think I need one because I loved Barbie as a little girl and if I had one of these nifty computers, I just might get the Barbie game your girls have.

  2. I would love this:) Things don't make the hard parts of life better, but they do make it more bearable. I'm having my own 'hard part' of life.
But besides all that, this is just SO cool!
I would be one grateful recipient!!

  3. I want one for my husband. He needs a computer. We'd been saving up, but then our dog needed emergency surgery. He gives everything. He takes me to all my doctor appointments (sometimes more than five per week). He waits on me when I can't get out of bed. He takes care of me and never takes care of himself. We are about to go through the worst Christmas, the first since our daughter died. We aren't exchanging gifts (thanks to the aforementioned surgery). I'd love to surprise him with a computer, so he can go back to his passion - writing. I want to make him smile.

  4. Wow that is one cool computer! I'm trying to persuade my boyfriend he doesn't need a new computer at the moment, I don't think he's spotted these or he would love one - probably the same as Mr Neilson with the futuristic spaceship commander thing - all boys are really the same!

Although I'm sure there are people more deserving of us for this giveaway, we really are truly lucky already. I hope you and your family have a great Christmas Nie and I look forward to reading your blog posts to come, thanks for sharing it means to much to so many people.

  5. Why do I need a touch-smart? Wow- there's so many reasons. The main reason is that my computer broke many months ago. I just use my husband's work laptop when I can swipe it from him but just for the internet. My ancient computer costs too much to fix. I really want to keep pursuing my art but it is done mostly on the computer. I opened Peekabooprints Art for Children on Etsy for a short time before my computer crashed. I had to put my little dream on pause. I can only imagine what it would be like to touch the screen to add color instead of working with a mouse.

My husband lost his job after that and we moved to start a new one. I haven’t been able to start up again and I really miss it! I keep hoping that someday I will be in a position to do it again and this would make that someday happen!

I also like to use computers as a teaching tool for my kids and I love the concept that they could actually touch the screen! How cool is that?

I would love to use the camera with my children to keep in touch with their 64 cousins and grandparents. I only use a cellphone but would love to be able to use skpe and a webcam.

We don't have cable so we watch our favorite shows online. My husband's laptop is really not made for it and often we are often listening to them more than we are watching them because of the difficulty it has streaming video.

I would love to have place to download photos to. To have a chance to organize them and scan old photos of my parents and grandparents.

I mostly would love to have such a staightforward, user friendly computer. It seems even I could figure out how to use this amazing machine! I am crossing my fingers!

Steph- I admire you so much. THANK YOU for your example.

PS. I can't get to the rules link.

  6. I would love to win one of these computer because I would use it ALL the time and the number one reason:

    I never win anything!

  7. *Sidetracked moment* Wondering why this is the only post on your blog where I can leave a comment? Am I missing something elsewhere?

Why do I need this computer? My computer is old. My mouse is wonky and doesn't like me - it scatters everywhere - how cool would a touch screen be? Wow... guess you already know the answer to that. I need a new computer because the storage space in this current one is running out. Reaching max capacity, driving me crazy along with the mouse. ;)

Mostly, I need this computer so I can be like Mr. Nielson and feel like I'm in some space age command center. :)

  8. I need this computer because I am a missionary with two (nearly 3)children back at home in college. They need a study tool and I can't afford to buy one for them.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Hmm, I want one cause girl #4 and #5 are 23 months old and might have slightly maimed daddy's keyboard.

    ReplyDelete
  10. My hubby is in school to become a math teacher and he could really use it.

    ReplyDelete
  11. My first reason is, you're kind of to me like Oprah is to the rest of the world. You like something and stand by it, I'll probably do the same :) I love your style!
Second, we'll I'm getting married to the most fabulous guy ever in 3 weeks in the Houston temple, yay!! So, needless to say we are strapped for cash and my Mr. Darcy will hopefully be starting grad school soon. We could use a new computer for this new adventure in out lives. Cheers!

  12. I have never ccommeented on you blog, but thought this was great opportunity to get something for my daughter. We have three children and our 10 year-old has severe apraxia of speech. She also has some autistic behavior and low muscle tone. This type of computer was recommended to us a few years ago when the technology was so new that we couldn't find it. With medical and therapy bills, we can't afford this "luxury"... I guess that is the best reason to pick us to win, because our Genevieve would use it to her best advantage.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Hmm lets see.....ah I know! So I am the first in Australia to be uber cyber chic ;) oh and it reminds me of the fantastic touch screen on CSI :)

But Im guessing the competition is probably not open for people from other countries but thought it migt be fun to have a go :)

  14. I need it for my Dad! He is a teacher and my parents' computer at home is so old and not doing very well. This would be a wonderful present for them.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Not for me but for my 17 yr old son, Nicholas, who spent the first 18 months of his life fighting to survive and the past 17 months facing loss and heartache. His dad passed away and they were best friends, fishing buddies and movie pals. They were inseperable and loved one another so dearly and his loss has been devestating to all of us. The medial bills continue to mount and has left a huge financial impact on us. Yet Nicholas goes to school and then works, he oftern will say "Mom I will buy milk for us or here is my check (taking no money for himself) Everynight he hugs me and says "Momma we will be ok"
He has become a pillar of support and so much to take on at 17. He is going to college to be a fireman tp help other and to make sure my heat will never be turned off..again. He is loving and kinds and has worked so hard to earn scholarships even with a learning disability. This computer would be a blessing to him, a investment in goodness and a future for a very deserving person

  16. I would love an opportunity to win :)
I use our computer all the time, and my kids are at a point where they think that Mommy needs to share the computer a little more. Sharing is hard for grown ups sometimes...if I had this sharing would probably come MUCH more easily for this Mama. :)
Plus, we've had to restore our computer 4 times this year due to viruses and general "old age", so it would be nice to upgrade to a virus free computer. Thanks again!

  17. I'm getting ready to move halfway around the world and it is breaking my heart. I could use this to keep in touch with my family who I so desperately miss already.

    ReplyDelete
  18. My computer is hobbling along, held together by duct tape and happy thoughts. If I won a new computer, I could use those happy thoughts for more important things!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Well why wouldn't you need one of these! I am a complete computer nerd and my current computer is becoming a fossil! I am the one in my family whom everyone calls to figure out their computers. I would LOVE this computer for school! I am currently going to dental hygiene school and this computer would definitely help out a ton!

    ReplyDelete
  20. This would be perfect for us... you see my best friend's daughter 13 yo has been living with us for the last year and half due to some tragic circumstances and we are homeschooling her. She is using a very old laptop that my husband built with some parts and pieces he was able to gather from friends and family using their old broken ones. The problem with the one he built is it has no battery and the power cord is damaged (a new power cord was $150). If the power cord gets moved accidentally the laptop turns off and she looses everything she was working on, so frustrating! We can not afford to buy a new or even used laptop for her so we are making due. My husband was laid off early in January this year when his company downsized and he has been unable to gain other employment. I have a small florist shop that we are going to have to close the doors on the end of this year (soon) because the economy is so bad in our small town that no one sends flowers anymore! So needless to say we are having a hard time even buying her new shoes and boy do her feet grow fast! Being able to win this computer for her would be such a wonderful blessing! Thank you for this opportunity!

  21. My hubby is a student pastor and is wrapping up a building project for the student ministry. The donated money for the building will be depleted before the building is furnished so this would be an awesome thing for the students to be able to utilize!! These students have had a grungy old portable building so the new facility will be awesome to them but even better with a few cool new "toys" to play games on, do homework and multimedia projects for the church!! Thanks!

  22. WOW Nie...this is awesome!!!

  24. I would love a new computer as my laptop died on me last night and I really can't afford a new one right now.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I'd love this computer for myself...but would give it to my Mother-In-Law who is getting by with a Web-TV system right now (but she hates it). She'd have a ball with a new system, and having had alot of medical problems this year, would have fun while recuperating at home. Thanks for the opportunity to enter the contest.

    ReplyDelete
  26. P.s. I know this isn't a laptop. I can't afford to buy any kind of computer to replace mine right now....

  27. Hi Stephanie...Yes, I would love to win this computer.

Years ago, from my mother I received a word processor. I told her that it, in addition to the precious gift of my life and my darling brother and sister that that word processor was the most wonderful gift she'd ever given me.

Fast forward many years and my husband (for a very big birthday) gifted me with a (used) laptop. The power cord has stopped working, so it is no longer usable :-( so I am tethered to my ancient desktop computer at the moment.

To be able to write your thoughts and feelings and send them to others, and to be able to read what others have to say, and to connect with those who share a common experience makes life an even more exciting adventure.

With a new computer, the sky would be the limit.

    "I have wings
    I have wings.
    Yes, I can fly
    I can fly
    Around the moon
    And far
Beyond the sky" (Alone in the Universe, Seussical the Musical).

Writing makes me feel like I have wings and I can fly.

    Thank you.

  28. What a treat it would be to own the latest in technology - and what fun using a touch screen - I always enjoy watching them on TV when they seem to throw screens around. Thanks for the chance to win one.

  29. alright nie, here it is.
I would love this computer for my family. Well, my parents. I am from Utah but moved to Scotland to live here with my husband ( who is from here) while he studies. My family all remains back in Utah and my parents are doing their very best to make things work financially for the fam. Sadly, their computer died a couple of months ago. Which is sad for my mom because now we are not able to keep in touch as readily. I know my parents would love to buy a new computer, but, they just dont have the money. They are many, many more reasons I could tell you why my family is deserving of such a great gift, but I will stop at that.
I suppose it is a bit selfish too. I want them to have a new computer so I can hear from them more.

  40. I would love this computer! I have severe health problems that keep me confined to my home, unable to go to church, out to eat, shop, or have much social interaction with people. This computer would enable me to keep in touch with my family, friends and especially my grandchildren.

The problem is our home computer has been having a few fits. The CD rom busted, the hard drive crashed, and so on ans so on. A new computer is on our list of "someday our wish will come true" Please make it come true just in time for Christmas! Thanks, Jo Dee

  49. Skype is a great way to stay in touch with all my far-away family. :)

    ReplyDelete
  50. I would love something like this so that my daughters will see what its like to have a "real" computer. Because the one at work is so fast and "real" but they don't get to see that.

We have a very old beast at home and I am just to frugal to buy another one. We are trying to follow the "Financial Peace University" teaching of Dave Ramsey so all extra money is going to get us out of debt. And until then, there is no new computer.

    ReplyDelete

  55. I need a new computer to replace my old slow one. We regularly skype with my parents in Virginia but our comptuer usually freezes several times during each session. My mom got hit while out walking by a teenage driver last year and has struggled to recover and survive just like you. I use skype to make sure she is really okay - and not just telling me she's okay. She loves to see her grandkids and hear their sweet voices and I believe they are a major reason she is still with us. I would use this new computer to talk to her even more often.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Seriously, that is one awesome computer. We have an HP/Compaq that is over 8 years old now. My 7yo is needing to use it more and more with school. It would be so nice to start fresh with a new computer in the new year.

I would love this! After having my second daughter, my work allowed me to alter my schedule so I could work from home part of the week. Our computer is on the fritz (personal pc - my work didn't issue me one) and will be in need of a new one so I can continue to keep this schedule and spend more time with my family.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I would LOVE one to give away to my Dad this christmas. I don't think he's ever bought a computer (just hand me downs) and he struggles so much trying to figure it out. I think this would be the perfect gift for him!

  73. I would like to win this computer for my mother. Her computer is ancient. It runs so slow she has to wait forever for things to load/download! We have moved 3 hours away and she may be moving half way across the country very soon. I'd love to be able to Skype with her so she can see our daughter (her first and only grandchild grow up) She can't afford a new one and we can't afford to buy her a new one so winning this would be an amazing blessing and such a joy to suprise her with!!! The Touchsmart looks & sounds so so so COOL!! It would be an extremely Merry Christmas at our home with this little baby under the tree! Thank you so much for a great giveaway & keep up the AMAZING work you do on your Blog-you inspire me to be a better wife, mother, & person with every entry!

  79. This would be wonderful for our family this season! My almost 4-year old is starting to become VERY interested in technology, and she could have fun putting makeup on Barbie while I'm nursing our new baby due to arrive in January. 80. Aah, I was going to pitch for it, but I read some of the previous comments, and don't feel we are as needy and down-and-out, as some others. So bless someone else's life who is having the hardest time. Heavenly Father will bless us in oher ways. God will bless you, Nie, for the good you do and the joy you bring to others.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Oh, I would love to win this computer!! I just created a fun study room for my kids. They each have their own desks, cork boards, chairs, and little cubbys to keep all of their school work in. The only thing I need to finish the room is a computer for them to work on. It would finish the room, and the kids would be sooooo happy!

    ReplyDelete
  82. Oh, Nie... I need to LOVE and HOLD one of these for myself! My fiance and I just moved to Columbia, SC all by our lonesome, while the rest of the family stayed in Michigan! This computer would be awesome to help us keep in touch. It's so hard starting out in a new place all alone. I can't find a job, I miss home dearly and the only thing keeping me from going absolutely crazy is being in constant contact with my family at home. I have a macbook right now, and while I love it, it is nearing it's dying day. It won't hold a charge, some of the keys don't work.. etc.

Plus, that computer is really pretty :)

    ReplyDelete
  83. I would love not to hunch over my children's craft table and sit in their itty bitty chairs to use our family computer, which is a laptop. A hand-me-down from my hubby's work....it works great, but I would love to have a fancy "adult" computer of my very own. Thanks for the awesome opportunity!!!

    ReplyDelete
  84. I certainly don't need it by any means, but it would be very nice to have it. I'm a newlywed in grad school, and my family lives 700 miles away. My husband and I are trying to start a family, and if God blesses us, it would be nice to be able to share moments with my family back home.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Oh, how I would love this! My children are always on my computer, so now I could read Nie Nie while they were using my computer. Thanks for the chance at such an amazing giveaway! And, congrats to Claire!!

    ReplyDelete
  86. I would love to win the laptop for many reason. First, the hp we have is 6 yrs old and lately keeps crashing. Second, it sits in the office where my husband does his bills and helps our two sons with homework. I am not abble to check email or anything else while they are all in there doing their homework. Third, I love updating my facebook status each morning. On the weekends my husband is taking care of bills etc and isn't really interested in my facebook updates. Fourth, as things here in the Detroit area continue to hit rock bottom internet on my cell phone wasn't an option. Not to mention the Blackberry I was dying to have. Can't have a Blackberry without internet service with Verizon that an extra $30.00 a month. Imagine the groceries we could buy with that $ my hubby says. So in closing, I would love the chance to win the lap top. I could read YOUR BLOG at my every whim. How great would that be? I hope I win!!
Oh and by the way...Merry Christmas and May you and your family have a joyous New year!!

    ReplyDelete
  87. I would love this computer for my husband! I take over the laptop we share since I am in grad school, leaving him with precious little time to use the computer!

    ReplyDelete
  88. I would live to own this computer because my current computer is circa 2003. It's HUGE and my boyfriend likes to make fun of it. Thank you! By the way, I so love reading your blog and story. You have a beautiful family!

    ReplyDelete
  89. I would love one for our house since my husband will be assigned to deployment sometime this year with the Air Force and it looks great to use with Skype as a way to communicate with him. We have 2 little children and we will be stationed at a base far away from family, so this will be great!

    ReplyDelete
  90. This is so very nice. My current computer takes 45 minutes to boot up,...something seems terribly wrong. It takes another 15-20 minutes to open a program. It is very fustrating and maddening because the warrenty is out and this is my only computer and I use it for my job and school. Thanks for the opportunity Nie!

    ReplyDelete
  91. I would love to own this computer because since we have had to move so far from our friends and family (job) I spend a lot of time on a computer keeping in touch with everyone! Thanks for the chance to win!

  92. This would be great for me because I am one of those lucky women that has managed to find work from home, so that I can be here with my own little Chief every day. ALL of that work gets done on a computer, but the one I have is SLOW. The faster I am at my job, the more likely I am to keep it:)

  93. I'd love to win this computer! Blogging has been my lifeline in the four months since I've had my baby - a sweet but fussy/high maitenance little fellow! I can barely put him down long enough to fold a load of laundry, let alone sit at my lap top and manuever a mouse! This touch screen would simplify my life!

    ReplyDelete
  94. I need one because my laptop has a virus and isn't working properly, but really I guess that is just that I WANT a computer to replace it, I don't really NEED one. I could survive without one...it just isn't fun!! (At least I have one at work that I can use to check my email and check out some blogs!!)
Oh, and I couldn't open the rules link either!

  95. I would love to have and hold this lovely computer because my husband lost his job in March and got a new job about 3 months later. We were very blessed. But he has a 3 hr commute a day and the computer is how we keep in touch and how he does his schooling. Wouldn't this be useful to finish up a Master's degree on? Plus I am going to go back to school soon as well. We have 3 kids and the youngest is always left out of our video game time because she is too little to work the controller. I bet she could use the touch screen to play a few games! Thanks for the chance to win! PS The rules page won't load! So I hope I am within the rules!

  96. I would love to surprise my husband with it. Feeling lucky.

  97. Thank you for the opportunity!

I would LOVE this computer because my most wonderful husband's 30th birthday is this month. With a new baby on the way we dont have any extra cash for a birthday present. Knowing this the only thing he has asked for is to take myself and our lovely 2 year old daughter to her first movie for HIS birthday. She has been wanting to see the princess and the frog and I just teared up thinking I married this guy who wants to go see Princess and the Frog for his 30th birthday.
He is an IT and marketing guy and this would be a dream present!!

Also thank you for your blog and sharing your family with us.

  100. I would love this. Love this. Yes, I have a computer that works and is fine. But, nothing (not even close) to this one. I use the computer...a lot! Though many people are in this same situation, so am I. We live by no family. Not even close. As in, not even driving distance to see any realative. Infact, my parents are in another country for many years. So, I use the computer to communicate with my loved ones so far away. I'm sad to spend yet another holiday away, when all the relatives will be together, participating in the usual family traditions at "home". Although I'm sad, I'm learing to start new tradions with my husband and three little munchkins. Someday, hopefully soon, I won't think about how isolated I feel so far away, with no prospects of this changing. I've done it for years and can continue to. But the computer would be fun and great!

    ReplyDelete
  101. Why would I like this computer??

Mostly because my husband would think it is so cool! He digs "futuristic" gadgets.

Plus, I think it would make my third job (1. wife 2. full-time job 3. nursing school @ night) much easier.

    ReplyDelete
  102. I would love this computer. You see, I am a city girl at heart-theatres, cute little cafes, boutiques all sound like heaven to me, but I am also married to a cowboy. While I am married to the man of my dreams and I love him so, alas cowboys don't live by boutiques. We live way out west on a cattle ranch--in the middle of Montana. The computer is my link to the outside world. All of the happiest things of town life are filtered into my ranch house through my computer. My computer seems to have a case of the sniffles. It makes strange noises and is kind of slowing down in its old age. It might be nothing serious, but it could also be something fatal! The thought of losing my link to culture scares me! That is why I would love a chance to win this happy computer.

  103. Put simply, I'm a college student. I work nearly full time, take a full courseload each quarter, and my the details of my life seem to be kept organized by these silly machines.

Did I mention that this is my third year of this?

My poor laptop is quite literally falling apart:
I have keys missing, a tempermental touchpad, dead pixels in the screen, a battery that refuses to hold charge, and am AC adapter on its last legs.

At this point, a desktop computer would be a welcome change to the ever-crumbling laptop I currently own. I've always loved HP/ Compaq products, and I've actually been really excited about these machines!

    Here's to hoping!

    ReplyDelete
  104. I would love to have one of these as I can only imagine the things you can do with it (other than what you mentioned). It sounds like a fantastic teaching tool and something that can be used for the entire family.

    ReplyDelete
  105. I'd love one for my son who is seven and has autism. He can't manage a mouse but he could learn some computer skills on a touchscreen. I'd love a chance to win for him!

    ReplyDelete
  106. oh so very cool! my husband would love this...he is quadriplegic & has limited finger/hand control so a mouse is tough for him. Thanks for letting us know about this even if we don't win!

    ReplyDelete
  107. We've had the same computer since 2002...nuff said. PS I love that you are a homebirther cuz I am too!!

    ReplyDelete
  108. I would love to give this computer to my Mom. The video card just died in hers and it will cost more to fix it than just buy a newer computer (which is still pretty spendy). I know she would absolutely LOVE this. Especially being able to touch the screen, instead of using a mouse. She has carpal tunnel and uses a special mouse, but her wrist still hurts.

I wish you had comments open on other posts. Your strength and faith are so inspiring. And your photography is pretty awesome, too :)

    ReplyDelete
  109. I would love to have it because it is so cool. I would also love to have it so I can replace my realllly old laptop that I use to run my embroidery machine, because it takes forever to open a file and slows down my creative process. Anyway, I just love techology and gadgets so it would be really fun to have.

    ReplyDelete
  110. I don't need one at all, but my little brother (whose birthday is two weeks away) would absolutely die if I could give it to him! What nine year old wouldn't HAHA!

  111. What an amazing computer!!

This would be a wonderful gift for my hard-working husband.

Plus, I would enjoy playing with it too!

  112. This looks like such a great computer. If I won this I would give it to the woman above me (Eithne), who said she would give it to her autistic son. My girls would love it for the aforementioned Barbie dressing, but they do fine with what we have now.

  113. What a great computer.
I would LOVE to win this computer for my 13 yr old daughter. She's such a great gal and such a brave fighter the computer would make a perfect gift for her!
Yesterday was a very happy day for us, for the first time in a long time she had a great checkup at CF clinic. What a great Christmas it's going to be.
I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas ...
    God bless you all

  114. If I was to win it, it would be possible for my husband and I to communicate while hes on TDYs or deployments. We always pay a ton of money for calling cards so we can keep in contact pretty much every day while hes away from me. Having a computer would allow him to take our laptop with him when he leaves and I could have a computer we could skype or message each other with. Not to mention I could play the Sims 3 on it to fill up time while he's playing his xbox, haa!

    ReplyDelete
  115. I would love this. I am not very computer savy and one that was so easy to use would really be a dream come true. My husband would think he'd died and gone to heaven if he could use it all by himself. I have to help him every time he wants to look something up on google.(usually parts for equipment) I think the computer we have now is almost as old as we are!

  118. I could so use this! I just got internet at my house after a year and a half of saying I couldn't afford it. When I turned on my desktop after a year and a half, it's terribly outdated. I've downloaded all the updates I can, but it's still not acting "quite right." A replacement would be fabulous. Thanks for the opportunity Nie!!

  121. I would love this computer for myself and my two kids. We have a laptop that I am always afraid is going to be destroyed by little fingers that are curious. It looks amazing.

So excited that someone (maybe me!) will win this in time for Christmas. Such an amazing gift.

    ReplyDelete
  122. We need this computer! Especially for my husband, he's been applying to MBA school and things are looking positive for him to go to school in August! Our current computer is on it's last leg, and with going to school to not have to pay for a new computer would help keep our ever climbing student loans at bay! That is why I NEED this!

    ReplyDelete
  123. well, I need one to love and hold as my own, because my current laptop is like dying, and it's not functioning as it supossed to be, and only has a celeron processor.
and because I could do so many things with it, I really need a good computer :)

Nie, your story has changed me in many ways, thank you for letting us get to know you, and your adorable babies and husband. I love Jane! she makes me smile just by looking at her. I wish for you a merry xmas!!!

Fun giveaway!! Thanks for the chance! This sounds like the perfect computer for your healing hands. What a gift to you. I don't have any great need for it as maybe others do, but it would get lots of use and lots of love here at our house.

Happy Holidays to you and yours!

  129. OH how I need a new computer! The computer I use at home I have had since I was a junior in college and that was 10 years ago. To make it worse the computer was old when I got it. In college though, money is tight and you take what you can get! I have recently been looking for good deals for a new one...I just can't seem to afford one. Downloading pictures and music takes FOREVER. A new computer would be the best Christmas present EVER! Hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  130. Well, I'm no computer scientist either :) but boy oh boy my kids and I would love this HP Smart touch with the white hot passion that we have for donuts! We live by Cape Cod in MA and all of our family live in NY - it would be so exciting to be able to video chat with cousins, grandparents, aunts and uncles who we so seldom get to see.
Also, the only thing I have ever won in my life so far has been a waterproof radio for you shower that I won over the radio when I was in 6th grade. It didn't work.

Dear HPTS - Please come home to Memphis, TN. There may not be snow this year, but I promise to show you a rockin' good time in our fair city. We will go to Graceland together (why, yes, I'll take your picture there) and to the Peabody and we can hold...um...hands(?) whilst sipping hot chocolate and talking about the future together.

    Xoxo!

  137. We would be so touched to win this computer. My husband's just fried and his entire work life is on his computer. He's been using his brother's and trying to figure out how we can afford a new one. Like many, it's a trying time in our lives. I'm okay with that, but a new computer would certainly put a smile on our faces!

    ReplyDelete
  139. I think I need this because we just sold our only computer, and now are trusting upon a work laptop that I'm scared to put any of our personal informatio (and all our lovely pictures and memories on) And this one would be fun and so much more!

  140. Hi Stephanie! Thank you for hosting this giveaway. I can't exactly say that we "need" this computer. We do have one old and rather beat up one that chugs along most of the time. We don't have the funds to replace it, so having such an amazing computer would be a wonderful gift. And since I don't believe comments are normally open, I also want to take this opportunity to thank you for sharing your story. You are a true inspiration and I appreciate knowing you though your blog. Wishing you and your family the very best and a Merry Christmas :) -Sharyn

  141. Oh, I would just love a computer like this. I love electronics with all their gadgets and buttons and capabilities. I sometimes just go online and dream about owning an ipod or a new computer... right now we have more important things to save up for (like a new baby). Our computer is in its senile phase of life, and the HP touchsmart looks like just the thing to teach my 4-year-old and 3-year-old how to use the computer.

We also live far away from both my husband's and my families, so being able to video chat would be great for all of us to "see" each other. My husband's family is in Iowa, mine is in Utah, and we are in Oklahoma. I want my kids to be able to see their grandparents and cousins more, so having the webcam and skype would be such a blessing!

  145. My husband has always had a rebuilt computer and back in June, it went kaput. He's replaced nearly every part and can't get it work anymore. I would love to give this to him for Christmas!

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  146. Well...lots of people need this computer for good reasons! I need it, for my husband! He just started his own practice (he just graduated last year in Chiropractic School) and we are struggling to make things happen! It's slow! But having a computer like that would help him out. And when he's happy, I'm happy!

Plus, I've never won anything! Not even a scratch-off lottery ticket!

  151. What a GREAT give away!! You are more awesome than EVER!! I could really use it to help out with my photography business that my BFF and I just started. To have a seperate computer, which won't shut off on me like our extra computer, to store my pictures and work on would be such a dream come true. My husband and kids would be ever so appreciative. HOWEVER as I have been reading some of the comments, sorry I'm a bit nosey!, I decided how can I be SO selfish and ask this for me. So PLEASE pick one of those sweet moms who are hoping to win it for their sons or daughters who have WAY more challanges than me. Who after reading their short comments inspire me!
Thanks for all YOUR inspiration and posts!! It makes me want to be a better mom to my four beautiful, healthy, awesome, crazy kids!!!

  153. I would love to win this computer. I've been laid off from my job as an accountant for 2 years now, I've taken various classes at my local community college to get a job in the medical field. This computer would help in my classes and job search. I love your blog and read it daily. Thanks so much for the chance to win.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Wow! I never knew such a thing existed!

I probably don't actually need it, but I do have a carpal tunnel problem and editing photos would be so much nicer on something like this. Not to mention that my computer is dying a slow death right now...

    ReplyDelete
  155. This is so weird...I was just thinking the other day at work..."Wouldn't it be cool to have a screen you could manipulate like an iPhone?". I actually did not know it existed! This would be an awesome replacement to my aging computer, which I will will to my children. :-) Is that selfish?

    ReplyDelete
  156. Well, we have one dead laptop and one desktop on its way to the land of the dead. This would be awesome! Thanks for the opportunity!

  157. I'd love to win this so I could give it to my cousin. He's been out of work due to a back injury for 4 years (and he's only 28!) and I know this year is especially rough on him and his little family. It would make his day/week/year to be able to give this to his kiddos.

  159. My husband is a brain tumor survivor and finally after 1 1/2 years of working through that medical path our life seems to be settling down and back into a pattern. He just changed jobs because of a very unfortunate situation with his previous employer and his medical condition. His new job, while it's a job, will leave us struggling and our computer is old and I'm not sure how much longer it will last. He plans to use the computer, selling items, to help suppliment our income, but if the old girl gives out, we have no way to purchase another. A new computer would be such a blessing.

Thank you for all that you do, your strength and faith are amazing and it's such a blessing to follow your story. My prayers are always with you and your family.

  160. I would love this computer so my son Noah who is 8 and homeschooled is not able to control a mouse and this would be wonderful for him. It would be a great blessing for him!

    love your blog!

  161. There are people on here that already commented that seem much more needing of this than I, but I will leave my comment anyway and just say that it would be great to have a brand new computer that is mine and not "handed down" from my husband. Have a great day!

    ReplyDelete
  162. Oh my gosh, what a great giveaway! This computer would be perfect for work and home! My laptop traveled with me throughout Argentina, Bolivia and Peru. The trip left my computer a bit too beat up and me a bit too broke. So here I am....I will be crossing my fingers!!

  163. Isn't it funny how our home computers have become as essential as appliances?! Our laptop is nearly dead and with twin toddlers, a seven-year old, home renovations, degree-pursuing, freelance writing, and two jobs, we need to get our act together. Having this computer would go a long way to making our house run smoothly. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  164. I am not asking for myself, I am asking for my daughter, I have been enjoying your blog for so long, before the accident I just wanted the joy you showed in each of your post, Your family and your marriage. Now I see that faith is what has kept you and your family together and I need that now more than ever. A little joy in my family's life would be good also!

    ReplyDelete
  165. We could really use a computer! My husband is a chiropractic student and he would greatly benefit from taking our laptop with him to school. But he has not done so because he leaves at 5:00 a.m. and returns home around 7:00 p.m. and he doesn't want me to be without a computer all day. (I do my scrapbooking on the computer, write in my journal and of course read blogs while my children are napping.) It would be so wonderful if he could take our laptop and I could still have a computer at home.
Thank you for doing the giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  166. I guess I don't NEED a new computer, but it would be nice to have a new one so I don't have to fight over my current lap top with my husband. Plus it would make doing homework so much more fun.

    ReplyDelete
  167. Need this computer? Hmmm....I would be hard pressed to come up with some idea as to why I "need" this. I'm actually trying to teach the difference between needs and wants to my kids right now :) But, that is not to say I would not REALLY LIKE to have this computer. Does that still count as a comment? :)

    ReplyDelete
  168. What an amazing computer!Almost too good to be true. I couldn't access the rules, so if I judge by the other comments, I can assure you that I am not the most worthy of winning this computer. I don't have an urgent need for it and my life will pretty much go on as normal if I don't win it. But it would be fun! That said....

My world consists of my husband and our six kids. In the last 24 hours I have somehow gotten 6 kids out the door for school (complete with backpacks, lunches that actually include something healthy in them, mittens, scarves, hats (not necessarily matching), hair & teeth brushed),did my dishes, showered, made an extra trip to the school to bring missing item to child #4, sewed Christmas presents, successfully napped two kids, navigated the after school madness, made dinner out of stuff in the empty pantry that everyone ate, sat front and center for a 5th grade band concert with a smile on my face the entire time, tossed kids in bed happy, shopped with my teen who suddenly, desperately needed new unmentionables and couldn't bear to have anyone see her buying them, fell into bed after a long, full day next to my husband, and thought: Today, I had world peace. Most likely won't occur tomorrow, but today, today was great. I was what seven different people needed me to be, I was a Rock Star....I was a Mother.

  169. I would love this computer! We are thinking of updating (I hate how fast computers need updating...what a waste) but we do not have the funds to do so. My husband is a youth pastor and could really use this for work. What an awesome giveaway! I absolutely love reading your blog :)

  171. Really I hate to say I need this. But REALLY I do. My computer just died and I lost everything from the last 3 years on it, pictures, programs, music. How fun for you to share a little joy in someone else's life:)

  172. A new computer would go perfect with our big move taking place this next week!

    ReplyDelete
  173. I can't honestly say I "need" it nor do I think I want it. It is an awesome giveaway and I could pay it forward. Isn't that a lovely thought?! Making someone else's Christmas merry and bright!

  174. I would love to have this computer. Not only because it looks like the coolest thing ever, but because we are really in need of a new computer! We have been puting off buying a new one for financial reasons, and it would be so awesome to win one!! Then my 5th grader could really do his homework in style!

    ReplyDelete
  175. I have to agree with others. I don't NEED a new computer. I sure would like one though. I'm in graduate school and our desktop crashed. So, it would be nice to have for obvious reasons. But need it? Nope. Want would be more accurate.

    ReplyDelete
  176. I need one because this looks like a good computer to use one-handed. With a 2 day old baby, I'm going to have to learn how to go about my life with only one available limb!

    ReplyDelete
  177. Funny thing - my daughter, Grace, thought of this concept a few years ago and is convinced she invented it! :) So having one would make her incredibly satisfied. We homeschool and have two computers, but with five children, it seems like someone always needs a computer. I'd love to have one more to share.

    ReplyDelete
  178. I'd love to have one because I'll *hopefully* be starting up a home office soon and what home office doesn't need a super cool computer???

  180. I need this computer for my sweet son. He is single, living on his own and working hard to make ends meet. His computer is very old and he would be thrilled to have this super cool new computer!

  181. I for the life of me have no idea how on earth you are going to choose a winner. And this is just day one! I am not sure what to say Steph, I would love it, my fam would love it. But there seems to be so many people that have more trials that could really use it. I have 3 teenage girls fighting upstairs right now, that is a trial. But then that would be rewarding them for their naughtyness so no, thats no good. But then you could reward me for putting up with it, that would be nice. But then maybe I shouldn't be putting up with it, so thats not good either. Oh well, good luck to you on this. I love you so much, I am not just saying that to win. You are my cyber-friend and my daily inspiration. Hope your days are filled with the Christmas spirit. Love Amie Snow

  182. This would be great for my little kids (ages 4 & 6). Big brother has his own and they would LOVE this computer. Besides, we need a family computer:)

  183. I would love to surprise my husband with this. Since 2006 our life has hit alot of trials (autism, melanoma, death and job loss). Being the head of household it's taken a toll on my husband, though we've never lost our faith. We believe God has plans for us and we'll learn from our experiences. This Christmas we agreed no gifts for us all for our boys(who are barely understanding Christmas for the first time this year)so I think he's be so floored if he won a lab top.
Also I truly love your blog, your so inspirational.

  184. We so need another computer at this house. With five children all needing to do their homework, update their ipods, check their email and of course do Barbie make-up, Mom and Dad hardly every get a chance.

  185. Our laptop is dying. This awesome new computer would be a blessing, so we can spend the money we would for a new computer instead on our sweet baby boy due in April.

  186. We'd love a new computer. We are a homeschooling family about to welcome our 6th little boy into the world. It would come in mighty handy for school projects!
God bless you and your wonderful family,
    cathy
p.s I agree, your blog makes me smile and reminds me of what a beautiful gift God has given us in life.

  187. Our house would love one. We have an ancient computer 10+ years old and it's just so not up to date to say the least. My 6 yr old daughter would love to be able to use a workable computer for different fun learning programs. It looks fantastic.

  189. My computer is on its way out. I would love to set this one up in my kitchen to hold all of my recipes. It is pretty!

  190. I don't think I'm any more deserving than some of the touching stories that have already been posted.

However, it's been a rough year for my kids, and this would be something that would brighten the Christmas season for them.

  191. Hi Steph:

My daughter would absolutely LOVE this computer - and maybe keep her addiction to Tom & Jerry in check! She has 3 older brothers that all have laptops (college stuff) and she is in 2nd grade and needs a toy she can call her own. Plus it would help with some of her developmental "hinderences".

  192. Oh it's time for a computer upgrade for me but I know my fiancé would benefit from one more. He's had three knee surgeries and it would be so convenient to have a more portable option in the living room rather than in his work room.

  193. I would just love a new computer : )

  194. My family would love one since a new computer is needed in our near future, but way out of our price-range... We have our first baby due to be born in February and this would be an amazing gift for my husband for being the wonderful person he is and has been during this pregnancy. We will also both be returning to school part-time after the baby is born and this would help immensely!

    Happy Holidays!

  195. I would love it because it sounds like it would be great for my arthritic fingers. LOL! AND.....my home time with my 16 year son is always us hanging out on the couch with the laptop -- playing on youtube, etc. I would love to have this and share it with him. :)

  196. I would love the computer because I have never had the coolest, neatest, newest new fangled electronic gadget in all of my life. This would be a first! How cool would I be!?

  197. Why do I need a new computer? I really don't, but it's just so cool that it would be great to have one! :)

  198. Well after reading some of the other comments, now I just feel silly leaving a comment. I don't need a new computer and just think this one is really cool. So if you select my comment randomly by some freak chance, please give it to someone else more deserving. Maybe someone where the computer really could change their life. For me, I'm lucky to have a great family, friends and job and what else could I ask for?

  199. I had no idea they had personal computers with a touch screen. It seems so Jetsons. I always wanted to live with the Jetsons. Minus their dog. I don't much like dogs. Does this computer come with a dog?
